Waiting for new homes
The animals that we show for adoption or foster care are all rescued, by members of City Critters, Inc., by other New York City animal workers, or by good samaritans. Most are strays. Others have been accepted from owners in desperate straits who could no longer keep them. Some were scheduled for euthanasia at New York City's Center for Animal Care and Control.
All animals are examined by a veterinarian, tested for Feline Leukemia and FIV, vaccinated, and spayed or neutered if appropriate.
Urgent! Help needed for group of cats facing eviction!
These kitties all live with one man in The Bronx. The city is threatening to evict the man and euthanize the cats. Some of these cats are elderly; some have manageable health problems. If you are interested in adopting or fostering one of these cats, or in providing some other support for the cause, please let us know.
Pictures and biographies have been posted here on Facebook.

Many excellent cats and kittens are waiting for homes in our Adoption Center at 31st St. and 2nd Avenue, in the Kips Bay Petco, where they can be seen anytime during store hours. Dogs and younger kittens are shown for adoption on weekends. City Critters adoption counselors are there to help you find the right cat or dog every Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
Lily
Lily was taken from her home when her owner was hospitalized and left at the city shelter. We don't know her exact age, but our vet estimated her to be about 10. Lily is exceptionally affectionate, a sweet snuggler who is always up for a cuddle.
For more information about Reece, please e-mail City Critters.
Reece
Poor Reece was found abandoned in a building on the Lower East Side. He's a friendly, sweet guy, who wants nothing more than to explore and snuggle. He may be an older fellow. Our vets estimate him to be at least 5.
For more information about Reece, please e-mail City Critters.
Trapito
Trapito's foster mom describes him as a very nice, intelligent guy who loves to play. He is humble but happy and does not take himself too seriously. He is not fussy at all with food, but loves treats and turkey. He is very content with a nice, clean blanket to curl up on. He's very healthy, and keeps himself squeaky clean. He does not destroy things like another cat in his foster home who shall remain nameless.
For more info, call 212-252-3183 or e-mail City Critters.
Dempsey
Dempsey is a friendly, playful young male rescued from the Lower East Side. Unfortunately, he has tested positive for Feline Leukemia, so he is in urgent need of a very special person. He can be adopted or fostered as a single cat or as a buddy for another leukemia-positive cat. He gets along well with dogs, and could live with a cat-friendly dog. He likes people and will fetch toys. He is currently very healthy. For more information, please e-mail City Critters.
Raven
This longhaired beauty is just a couple of years old, a full-figured dude who is totally outgoing and friendly. He tested positive for FeLV, but has no symptoms of illness whatsoever at this point. As one of his rescuers puts it, "He’s just radiant." How can you resist?
For more information, please e-mail City Critters.
